NETFLIX RENEWAL NEWS - Lost In Space.
News has just be released that the explosive new 'Lost in Space', has been renewed for a second series following the mixed reviews of its first season. Just like previously reviewed Dynasty, Netflix's Lost in Space is a remake of a popular 1960's movie by the same name.
In positive news, the show's big names - Molly Parker, Toby Stephens, Parker Posey and Ignacio Serricchio - don't have any upcoming projects officially on their slate. Thus, if the scripts are completed in the near future, the filming could begin almost immediately - which could bring season 2 forward somewhat. However, Filming on the first season took around seven months and then there's post-production, including the impressive CG work, which adds another few months. At best, we could expect to see a second season towards the end of 2019 or, more likely, April 2020.
However, the show is uninspiring to say the least, poor production value and a reportedly hostile filming environment has plagues the series from the get-go. Furthermore, Once the drama gets past its first three episodes - which take too long to lay out a very simple series of premises - much of the action plays out, inevitably, in a forest outside Vancouver. Lots of sci-fi shows have similarly familiar and utilitarian settings, and far less money than this 10-episode drama, so they focus on creating meaty, surprising relationships and supplying vivid adventures.
Thus, what you're left with is a bland and mediocre attempt at a sci-fi drama which is meandering along with a few sci-fi fans remaining interested. If you're looking for any full-flavoured show with an effective portrayal of character, drama or a thriller edge, then this definitely isn't the show for you - whilst fans of inspired cinematography will also be left enthused.
